CORY.

An informal straw poll has indicated that three people understand the reference. I am okay with that.

About four years ago, I wanted a pair of Sperry Top-Siders pretty badly. Of course, they were all too expensive for my budget at the time. I never stopped wanting them, but then, Vampire Weekend became insanely popular.
In other words, I missed my chance to own a pair of Sperrys without being a Look At This Fucking Hipster post waiting to happen.

i owned a pair of topsiders in the 7th grade while attending an all black school. no one understood me!

My Sperrys are so old, they went to church with me. But seriously, the sole has wore down to the point where I can’t wear them on wet surfaces (µ = 0).

I believe I acquired my first (and only? maybe there was a second pair in there somewhere?) pair somewhere around sixth grade, which would have been probably ‘99 or 2000.
Embarrassingly, I think they were inspired by my sixth grade math teacher, who was a wonderful man, but had a terrible fondness for Big Dog apparel.
